Marsala ’15.

As some of you may already know, Marsala was recently named Pantone’s 2015 colour of the year. Personally, I am so excited about this decision. Once fall comes, I love mixing and matching my pastels with deeper hues, like emerald greens and burgundy. Marsala is the perfect colour for all year round wear, whether it be on your nails or as a coat. The options for incorporating this shade into your wardrobe is endless- in beauty, fashion and the home. Jewels in this mulled wine colour will add the right touch of edge when combined with bright summer neons, or florals this specific shade will ensure that you will be able to wear the piece all year round. I can already see myself pairing this hue with navy, deep greens and crisp whites.

But in case you need some inspiration, here’s some great ways to wear this gorgeous shade..

One of the best things about this hue is that is works on every skin tone- meaning virtually everyone can wear this. Being one of the pale kids, I’m thrilled I finally can rock a dark lip without feeling like I’m being washed out. Plus, since the colour is so bold, it’s the perfect excuse to keep the rest of your look minimal and fresh looking.

If you embraced the wine trend this past fall, then you’ll fall head over heels with Marsala. A dress is the best and most effective way to incorporate the colour into your outfit. Let the beautiful shade take center stage by pairing your frock with neutral heels and accessories, like navy, black or nude.

A Marsala hued skirt is a wonderful addition to any closet- especially mine ;). I love the idea of pairing a Marsala skirt with a white button down for a dressier look, or dressing it down with a navy crop top for night time wear. Regardless of the season, a skirt in this shade is truly an investment as it will be a staple you’ll find yourself wearing all year long.

Booty, booty, booty rockin’ everywhere! I love booties and honestly, this wine hue is making me fall even more in love. Whether you’re mixing colours or dressed in all black, Marsala can be the perfect finishing touch to any outfit- either as a statement piece or even if you’re just starting to experiment with the shade.

Marsala is a beautiful shade of polish and one of my go to’s come fall and winter- I even enjoy wearing this shade in the summer at times. I think wearing a darker colour is the best way to express your mood, particularly those winter blues. This wine colour is almost black, yet not and is completely versatile. I recommend pairing this with a rose gold accent nail.

How do you plan on incorporating Marsala into your closet?

XO, Kristen
